ES provides specialist employment taxes and benefits advice as part of a multi-disciplined team able to advise national and global clients on all aspects of the tax and national insurance treatment of cash or share based rewards, expenses and benefits. This specialist advice is varied and will offer you a challenging environment in which to progress your career.
The role
The ES team offers the following specialist advice:
* Providing advice to large employers in respect of PAYE and NIC matters
* Undertaking site visits to clients to ensure that their systems and procedures comply with PAYE and Expense & benefit compliance requirements
* Producing reports in respect of the above
* Assisting with HMRC investigations and liaising with the tax authorities
* Providing advice on the tax/NIC treatment of non-cash remuneration
* Providing support on large projects on behalf of, or in association with clients where HMRC requirements have to be met
* Drafting expenses and benefits policies and procedures on behalf of clients in accordance with their commercial needs and the current environment
* Due diligence work in order to identify any material exposure to unpaid tax/NIC which may affect the proposed transaction eg acquisitions or mergers
* Designing and implementing of salary sacrifice arrangements would be an advantage
As a Senior Associate your role will see you undertake the following responsibilities:
* Working closely with Managers and Senior Managers, providing support in a technical role on reports, meetings, research & client management
* Liaising with colleagues who are accountable for other aspects of the clients' affairs, for example, corporate tax, actuaries, employment lawyers
* Co-ordinating work within the firm on ES related projects often liaising with third party advisors
* Identifying opportunities for the team or for other parts of the firm to provide further services to clients or other parties
About you
A good working knowledge of the technical aspects of PAYE/NIC is desirable. A good understanding of the taxation of company cars and experience in the design and delivery of salary sacrifice projects would be an advantage.
The candidate will have gained strong experience in these areas in a professional practice and wish to develop their technical skills.
Alternatively, you may have recently qualified at ACA level and be looking for a career in taxation outside corporation tax.
The role will demand that the candidates have most, if not all, of the following skills:
* A good understanding of the current law and practice in respect of employment tax and NIC in the UK; preferably a formal qualification
* The ability to work either alone or in a team
* The ability to negotiate with regulatory authorities
* Strong written and oral communication skills
* Good interpersonal skills.
* Appreciation of wider employee benefit/HR issues
* Strong organisational skills
