IBFD is a leading International Tax Knowledge Centre whose core business is research, publications and education in the area of cross-border and international taxation. IBFD has a strong international client base of specifically Fortune 500 companies, governments, international consultancy firms and tax advisers. Currently we have a challenging position for a:

Research Associate North & Latin America and Caribbean countries

Knowledge Centre
The position is located in IBFD's Knowledge Centre, which is responsible for the contents of IBFD's various publications as well as client information and research requests on tax and investment matters.

Tasks and responsibilities
You will be engaged as a country specialist for the North & Latin American and Caribbean countries.
The position is based in Amsterdam, but in future it might be possible that the position will be based in our US Office in the Washington DC area.

Publications
-Monitoring and reporting on tax, investment and company law and social security developments and supervising correspondents
-Writing news reports, articles, and surveys
-Providing information relating to the relevant IBFD publications

Other research activities
-Providing information to clients;
-Maintaining and expanding IBFD's correspondent network;
-Participating in research projects;
-Providing information on tax treaties, national laws, regulations and other sources of tax information for IBFD on-line tax services.

Other activities
-Support to the International Tax Academy (ITA), the Government Consultancy Department (GCD) and IBFD's academic activities;

Profile
Knowledge and experience
- A university degree in law, accountancy or related areas (preferably an LL M or other post-graduate degree in taxation);
- Professional experience of at least 2 years with a tax/accounting firm, a governmental agency or an international organization dealing with international tax is preferred, but lesser experience will be considered for qualified candidates;
- Knowledge of and experience with the tax and investment systems of North & Latin American and Caribbean countries and in-depth knowledge of at least one of these countries' tax systems.

-Fluent in both spoken and written English and Spanish
-Excellent writing and editorial skills
-Ability to work independently and provide accurate and reliable tax information

Salary & fringe benefits
-We offer a salary of between €40,000 and €60,000 gross per annum based on a full-time position; depending on relevant work experience and background;
-An additional 8% of the annual salary is paid out as a holiday allowance in May;
-For many of our employees in the Amsterdam Office recruited abroad, we are able to assist with your application to the Dutch tax authorities for a ruling that exempts 30% of your salary from Dutch income tax.
